MARY LIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Renovation & Additions

APS chose GVSA for this assignment because of GVSA’s strong track record of creating comprehensive, needs-based, assessments from which building programs and design would come. GVSA also served as community liaison. The final result was a single design that all parties enthusiastically supported. Many project committee meetings were conducted by GVSA from design onset through design development to ensure that all parties participated in design solutions and were educated to the decision shaping factors. Sustainable design was pursued as a teaching mechanism, not as a certification tool. Very progressive site techniques were employed in pursuit of the sustainable strategy. Permeable paving, wet lands, bioretention cells, rain harvesting, rain gardens, vegetated swales are all incorporated into the design. The addition’s water fixtures will be sources form rainwater and recovery tanks
