The museum, whose first phase was a retrofit of an existing building in a historical area of the city, joins surrounding efforts on the street that are designed to improve the human and physical climate of M.L. King Jr. Blvd. GVSA provided a solution that yields a diversity of unique spaces, providing a stimulating backdrop for multiple exhibit displays. Improvements were also made to the building’s exterior that included modifications to its entrance. A recent addition for traveling exhibits and a multi-use space for community gatherings has been the latest component to the museum. The award winning new addition is in harmony to the area historic regulations and was facilitated without any disruption of the museum’s initial phase.
