Some eight years ago the City of Shorter, Alabama asked Goode Van Slyke Architecture to do a comprehensive Masterplan incorporating all the town’s boundaries and the future impacts of its surrounds. More recently a sector of that plan was refined and begun with a new Clinic and Activity Center. The Clinic, at a modest size is meant to accommodate emergency care with treatment, labs, and 6 exam rooms. It also includes administrative related offices, nurses work areas and a significantly sized waiting area and lobby. The setting incorporates ample green space and a connectivity to other components within the mixed-use community. A water feature is planned to enhance the site detention requirements. Angled roof lines bring forth a softening effect to the building’s facades for a slight traditional flair.
