Savannah Charter School

Goode Van Slyke Architecture (GVSA) has been engaged to design the new Savannah Exploratory Charter Academy. The Academy’s mission is to offer a flexible, personalized learning experience. It will be located on a six-acre campus on Savannah’s Southside.

The Academy will have small class sizes – ranging from 18 to 22 students in each class – and emphasize project-based learning and individual attention so students can thrive. The school, which opens this August for the 2021-2022 school year, was recently profiled on WTOC-TV in its Community Champions series.

“Designing innovative schools that encourage learning has been a priority each of the firm’s 25 years,” said GVSA partner and co-founder Paul Van Slyke. “The Savannah Exploratory Charter Academy is our fourth charter school, in addition to dozens of K-12 and university educational facilities. The design includes short-term solutions so it can be ready to open in August, plus more permanent elements for its long-term growth.”

Enrollment is now open. For more information on the school, visit Secawise.org

Ten29 West for Brock Built Homes

Goode Van Slyke Architecture (GVSA) has designed a new townhome community for well-known Atlanta developer Brock Built Homes. Ten29 West will include 61 boutique townhomes on Atlanta’s rapidly-growing West side featuring partially covered rooftop terraces and skyline views.

The four-story buildings feature edgy, industrial interiors and modern brick exteriors. The townhomes feature three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, high ceilings, and private two-car garages. The residential development is located along Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway near the location of Microsoft’s recently-announced campus, Georgia Tech, the Beltline connector, and planned Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry, which is expected to be Atlanta’s largest greenspace. Residents of Ten29 West, formerly called The Finley, can indulge in several restaurants, shopping destinations, and performance venues nearby. It is also within easy access to MARTA rail, Midtown, and Downtown Atlanta.

Goode Van Slyke Architecture Designs New Luxury High-Rise

The first residents of Seven88 West Midtown – a luxury high-rise condominium designed by Goode Van Slyke Architecture (GVSA) – have moved into the elegant 22-level community. Seven88, developed by McKinley Homes, was completed late last year. It features 18 floors of residences including luxurious penthouses with balconies and fireplaces – atop four controlled-access parking levels. Each of the 279 residences has energy-efficient floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views including downtown and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Landscaped outdoor amenity decks include a saltwater pool and whirlpool spa, yoga lawn, outdoor kitchen, dining areas, and fire pit. Indoor amenities include a clubroom with demonstration kitchen, state-of-the-art fitness center billiards, a lounge, coffee/refreshment bar, bike storage, dog park, and pet spa. A concierge helps residents meet their daily needs.

A truly urban project, the building fills the site from curb to curb. Seen from the air, the pool deck resembles the prow of a luxury yacht. The ground level, designed for restaurants and boutique shopping, features dark brick that blends in with historic areas nearby. The tower’s multiple facets allow 20 different floor plans and a wide selection of views. Clear balcony railings enhance visibility and increase the natural light in the homes.

“We’re already known for designing a wide array of projects,” said GVSA partner Chris Goode. “We are excited to add this luxury high-rise to our portfolio.”

Precautions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 also add more convenience. Keyless access cards open exterior doors; the no-contact elevator automatically goes to a resident’s floor. Residents can access a dedicated area for food and package deliveries without meeting anyone face-to-face. Common areas feature touchless lighting and temperature controls as well as hand sanitizer dispensers. A wide variety of restaurants are within walking distance to delight residents. Condo owners can also visit nearby galleries, concert halls, theatres, and offices. The planned Beltline Westside Extension will make it an easy walk to downtown, the World Congress Center, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coke, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The Georgia Aquarium, etc.
