The Arts Center at Spelman College

A media outlet for the arts in Atlanta covered the design for the new Center for Innovation and the Arts at Spelman College. Goode Van Slyke is the associate architect on the project with lead architect Studio Gang. ARTSATL describes how a gift from LaTanya Richard Jackson, her husband Samuel L. Jackson, and other philanthropists allowed for new construction and renovation on the campus of the historically black liberal arts college for women.

 

Empty Stocking Fund Renovation Complete Thanks to Atlanta Businesses

Just in time for Christmas, the Empty Stocking Fund has a newly-renovated headquarters thanks to almost two dozen local businesses that donated their time and services. Brasfield & Gorrie worked pro bono as the general contractor for the overall project. Goode Van Slyke Architecture donated free design services for a new office and other aspects of the project. The team also volunteered at the nonprofit on Dec. 6, 2021, helping families find toys to brighten the holidays.

 

Award-Winning Seven88 West Midtown

Seven88 West Midtown – a luxury condo designed by Goode Van Slyke Architecture, has earned five OBIE awards. Awards, presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council on behalf of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, recognize outstanding achievements within the home building industry and serve as the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

 

The Enduring Value of New Urbanism

GVSA co-founder Paul Van Slyke is the author of a cover story in Southeast Multifamily & Affordable Housing Business magazine. Titled “The Enduring Value of New Urbanism,” it examines how the concepts of new urbanism – especially walkability, sustainability, healthy buildings, and the connection to the outdoors – proved to be particularly timely during the pandemic. Van Slyke is a member of the Congress for New Urbanism and is a founding member of the Atlanta chapter.

GVSA Good Deeds go Global

The consumer financial news site NerdWallet recently included Goode Van Slyke Architecture’s celebratory community service project in a story about helping the community without breaking the bank. GVSA is performing 25 good deeds to celebrate its 25th anniversary in business. Through a content-sharing agreement, the story, titled “How Businesses of All Sizes Can Drive Positive Change,” also appeared on more than a dozen other sites including Today U.K. News, Yahoo! Finance, Entrepreneur, and many others.

25 Good Deeds

GVSA is 25 years old! It seems like we started yesterday but we’ve been around a long time. To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’re doing 25 “Goode” deeds. We reached out to nonprofits around the area to see who needed help. The AJC has a rundown of our efforts so far for organizations including Himalayan Children’s Charities, the Atlanta Food Bank, the Empty Stocking Fund, and more. It’s part of our mission to impact the community in a positive way.

Riverline Townhomes for Brock Built

Goode Van Slyke Designs Riverline Townhomes for Brock Built.

Brock Built Homes has chosen Goode Van Slyke as the designer of its planned new Riverline Townhomes. The 52-unit development is planned for Atlanta’s Riverside neighborhood on the westside inside I-285 near the Chattahoochee River and Proctor Creek. Permitting for the project, previously known as West Hollywood Townhomes, is now underway.

The founders of Goode Van Slyke Architecture (GVSA) will appear on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio this month. GVSA partners and co-founders Chris Goode Paul Van Slyke will appear on the audio and video podcast on March 17, 2021. The show will remain available online.

Goode Van Slyke to Design Renovated Senior Housing

The Michaels Organization has chosen Goode Van Slyke Architecture to design the renovation of a 129-unit assisted living community in Southwest Atlanta. The Michaels Organization is one of the largest affordable housing owners and developers in the country. The community will serve people who are 55 years old and older, or who are disabled. As What Now Atlanta reports, the redevelopment would take 18 months with completion scheduled in 2023. The project depends upon a number of factors that are now in the approval process.
