Empty Stocking Fund Renovation Complete Thanks to Atlanta Businesses
06 December 2021Just in time for Christmas, the Empty Stocking Fund has a newly-renovated headquarters thanks to almost two dozen local businesses that donated their time and services. Brasfield & Gorrie worked pro bono as the general contractor for the overall project. Goode Van Slyke Architecture donated free design services for a new office and other aspects of the project. The team also volunteered at the nonprofit on Dec. 6, 2021, helping families find toys to brighten the holidays.
The Empty Stocking Fund moved into a 20,000 square foot warehouse in Southwest Atlanta’s Capitol View neighborhood near Downtown last year. Earlier this year, businesses donated time, services, and materials to convert the warehouse into useable public “shopping” areas with an office. The building’s entrances and exits are also now up to code.
Empty Stocking Fund Executive Director Manda Hunt has said that thanks to the renovations, the nonprofit finally has a real home of its own for the first time in our 94-year history.
