Jonathan Ruffin was born and raised in a small city in California which is also their state capital. He is now based in Atlanta where he completed both his undergrad and graduate studies. Jonathan is equally proud to have graduated from both Morris Brown College and The Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of arts in art and a Master of Architecture degree respectively. He now has more than 25 years of professional experience in architecture. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys cycling 25 miles every Sunday morning and designing in his beautiful, landscaped yard.
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? When not working, I love to create art.
Before working at GVSA, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? While in grad school, I spent a summer working in a factory ripping 2X6 studs. That summer I also installed standing seam roofing and demolished buildings.
When I was 5, I was pretty sure I’d be a [JOB/PROFESSION] when I grew up. When I was 5, I was pretty sure I’d be an artist.
What would your perfect weekend look like? My perfect weekend would include laying on a beach with a soft breeze and a cooler full of the essentials while napping to the symphonic sounds of birds screaming, waves crashing and random kids playing.
