Matthew Skarr is an experienced architect with over 24 years of practice in the field. He has worked on design and production phases on a diverse range of project types, including higher education facilities, hotels, office buildings, multi-family residential developments, K-12 schools, and mixed-use projects. His experience spans locations in the United States, the Pacific Rim, and other areas.
What is something you love about Architecture? Creating a space that brings a need for people whether it’s a building used for educational purposes or one needed to house someone.
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? There are many things I enjoy, but one would be participating in several tennis teams for my neighborhood, enjoy spending time with team playing something I have done since I was a teenager.
Before working at GVSA, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I worked for a title abstractor researching pending deeds and deeds of trust before recording them with the county.
When I was 5, I was pretty sure I’d be a [JOB/PROFESSION] when I grew up. Fireman.
What would your perfect weekend look like? Watching a game outside while cooking on my smoker with friends.
