GVSA has successfully worked with the Clarke County School District to support innovative teaching techniques with creative architectural solutions. This work is the foundation for future CCSD projects and serves as an architectural reference point for all other CCSD projects. Architectural innovations incorporate the use of modern technology, spontaneous learning spaces, engaging materials, and collaborative learning spaces. Sustainable techniques are also used as a teaching device. Whit Davis Elementary School is one of two sister school renovations done simultaneously. Working closely with CCSD, Goode Van Slyke Architecture provided a design which not only provided for fundamental renovation items like mechanical and electric system upgrades, but also brought the owners forward thinking educational concepts to life. Working within a limited budget, GVSA was able to accommodate the desire for a complete renovation of the Media Center and Administration area, as well as a new glass main entry for improved safety and visual connection to the drop-off area which was previously nonexistent.
